We are fully equipped to respond promptly to urgent referrals, arranging the first planning meeting within just 48 hours of receiving the referral. Whilst our typical turnaround is quick, we like to make sure the learner is fully supported with their needs, meaning some complex cases may take a little longer. We ensure the perfect match between tutor and learner, creating the foundation for a tailored and impactful journey.
AP Education supports learners from age 4 through to 18, and up to age 25 for those with an EHCP. We work across all key stages, from Early Years to Post-16.
At AP Education, we build every learning package around the individual, selecting curriculum content based entirely on the learner’s needs, abilities, and goals. We offer support across Key Stages 1 to 5, including GCSE core subjects, Functional Skills, and a therapeutic approach to learning that prioritises wellbeing alongside progress. To support high-quality, consistent delivery, our tutors draw on trusted frameworks such as White Rose Maths and Oak National Academy English. These resources help ensure a coherent, sequenced approach to learning, allowing tutors to personalise content without creating knowledge gaps—so every learner receives a curriculum that is both bespoke and carefully structured.
Whilst we are not an exam centre, we are able to facilitate exams from functional skills to GCSE for our learners
Making a referral with us is straightforward. Simply head over to our ‘make a referral’ page & fill out the relevant question which is then sent straight through to one of our Education Delivery Coordinators to pick up. Alternatively, referrals can be made through email on info@ap-education.com or giving us a call on 0800 488 0424
Each learner has an Individual Learning Plan designed to reflect their needs, interests, and agreed outcomes. Tutors provide weekly reports to track progress, and half-termly reports are shared with all stakeholders. Review meetings take place every six weeks to ensure support remains relevant and effective. At AP Education, we are committed to working in partnership with families, schools, and services to support each learner’s progress and wellbeing.
Our education team is committed to the highest standards of safeguarding and safer recruitment. All Education Delivery Coordinators (EDCos) and tutors are trained to a minimum of Level 2 in safeguarding and are PREVENT trained. All staff hold enhanced DBS certificates and complete quarterly updates on Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs) are trained to Level 3 and receive regular updates to ensure best practice is maintained. We prioritise safety by: Conducting thorough risk assessments before each placement begins, Ensuring safe, appropriate venues with quiet work areas, suitable furniture, fire evacuation points, and accessible first aid kits, Assessing each learner’s individual needs and any potential risks in the community setting. For more information, please head over to our safeguarding page.
The location of our provision is determined by the individual needs of the learner. Upon receiving an initial referral, we assess the learner’s abilities and match them with a suitable venue for their provision. This could be in the family home, at school, within a community space, or even online. We will organise the sessions to take place as close to home as possible.
We provide tailored education for a wide range of learners, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with or without an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Our provision supports learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, those experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), children missing education (CME), those at risk of exclusion, and learners accessing Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS). We support many other individual and complex needs.
15 hours a week is the maximum we can provide provision to each learner, as currently we are classed as an unregistered provider.
Here at AP Education, we appreciate that there may be situations that will prevent you from being able to attend. We therefore offer to chair the meeting and will write up the minutes and will share with you all that was covered.
Our attendance system will enable you to have real time, accurate and up to date records of each learner. In addition, you will be able to monitor the targets/objectives set out in the planning meeting, as well as having a central place for you to access the weekly reports, ILP’s, review meeting notes and more!
Outcomes are personalised and agreed during the planning meeting, based on each learner’s individual needs and circumstances. Where an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is in place, targets are aligned accordingly. Our overarching goal, where appropriate, is to support a successful transition back into full-time education or an appropriate long-term setting that meets the learner’s needs.
We begin with an online planning meeting involving parents/carers, the local authority, the school, and any other relevant professionals—such as Educational Psychologists or CAMHS representatives. During this meeting, we explore the learner’s interests, strengths, and motivations, as well as how best to support their individual needs. Building rapport and creating a safe, comfortable environment is always our initial priority. We also agree on clear outcomes and expectations for the provision. In many cases, if all parties are aligned, we are able to begin provision the very next day.
We hold an urgent review meeting to dig deeper and better understand why the sessions are not progressing as intended. We will collaboratively discuss, assess, and we will then make necessary changes to ensure the learners needs are being met. This could lead to a change in location, change of tutor, different delivery style; we will always be flexible and place the learner and their needs first.
