Each tutor is allocated their own Education Delivery Coordinator (EDCo), who will support you with tuition opportunities and serve as your main point of contact throughout your placements. During onboarding, you’ll also be assigned a Compliance Officer to help ensure all necessary checks and documents are in place before you begin working.
If you’re unable to reach your EDCo for any reason, you can contact the EDCo team directly by calling 0800 488 0424. A member of the team will be happy to assist you with any queries.
AP Education provides ongoing support and essential resources to help tutors deliver high-quality tuition. This includes:
Our Head of Education is also available to offer guidance and support when needed, particularly around curriculum, resources, and complex educational queries.
AP Education offers flexible tuition opportunities to suit your availability. All sessions take place during school hours and term time, unless otherwise agreed in exceptional circumstances.
Working hours typically range from 1 to 30 hours per week, depending on your capacity and the needs of the learners you’re supporting.
Yes! We offer a £250 referral reward when you successfully refer a tutor who goes on to work with AP Education. If You’re enjoying your experience with us, we’d love for you to recommend like-minded colleagues or friends who are passionate about making a difference.
Full details of the referral scheme and eligibility criteria are available from your EDCo.
We pay all our teaching staff on weekly basis (Friday), a week in arrears.
Our competitive hourly rates are designed to account for any travel expenses that may arise.
We also aim to match tutors with learners in their local area wherever possible, to help minimise travel time and costs.
Our recruitment process is designed to be simple and supportive. You can apply for tutoring roles via our website, through job boards, or by calling us on 0800 488 0424.
If successful, you’ll have a phone discussion with an Education Delivery Coordinator (EDCo) to explore your experience and expertise. While informal in tone, this conversation does include some key safeguarding questions.
You’ll then be guided through our onboarding process by the compliance team, and we’ll meet you via Microsoft Teams during this stage. Your first in-person meeting will typically be during your start-up meeting before you begin working with a learner.
We aim to match tutors with learners based on your subject strengths, experience, and your ability to meet individual learner needs.
To work with AP Education, you must have a minimum of two years experience in an educational setting. We look for individuals who are adaptable, learner-focused, and confident in working independently. The specific requirements for each role may vary depending on the needs of the learner, but a strong background in education and a commitment to making a positive impact are essential.
At AP Education, we are committed to ensuring our tutors feel supported throughout every stage of a placement. Each tutor is linked with a dedicated Education Delivery Coordinator (EDCo), who is available to offer advice, guidance, and practical support.
In addition, we provide access to educational subscriptions and a wide range of teaching resources to support planning and delivery. If there is an urgent matter, our EDCo team will be happy to take your call outside of school hours.
Travel requirements are determined by the location of your learner’s sessions, whether it’s at their home, a community space, or a school. We match our tutors with learners within their preferred radius. During the interview stage, your Education Coordinator will discuss your travel preferences to ensure the best possible fit.
Yes. At AP Education, we recognise the importance of continuous professional development. Tutors have access to a programme of training delivered throughout the academic year, including regular safeguarding updates. Additional training may be provided where specific learner needs require it.
In addition to tutoring, AP Education offers opportunities for teaching assistants, learning support assistants, and mentors. We also have roles within our central team, including Education Delivery Coordinators and administrative support.
As our provision grows, we continue to expand the range of roles available to support our learners and the wider service.
AP Education should be informed of this as soon as possible. You can do so by contacting your Education Delivery Coordinator, who is trained as a Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) and will raise this with the senior leadership and safeguarding team, to ensure the issue is handled appropriately. If you’re not satisfied with resolution found, you can contact our DSL directly at safeguarding@ap-education.com or give us a call on 0800 488 0424. For more information, please head over to our safeguarding section on the website.
Attendance is tracked through a live portal (DC Pro), which allows you to log attendance directly from your phone or laptop at the beginning of each session. You will receive login details to access the attendance app, which can be used from your mobile device.
In line with statutory responsibilities, attendance must be recorded in real time — as soon as the session begins — to ensure accurate monitoring. Please refer to our ‘Attendance and Monitoring’ process for more detailed guidance.
All attendance is tracked through DC Pro, eliminating the need for timesheets for tutors. Please note, where a session is cancelled through no fault of your own, you will still be paid for your time.
The vast majority of our tuition is delivered face-to-face, as we believe this offers the most effective support for our learners. On rare occasions, online sessions may be used as a short-term measure; for example, to help an anxious learner build rapport with their tutor before transitioning to in-person delivery. In these cases, remote tuition is used as a stepping stone towards face-to-face engagement.
At AP Education, we take great care in matching tutors to placements to ensure the best possible outcomes for learners. We consider a range of factors including subject specialism, experience, location, availability, and any specific skills or interests that align with the learner’s needs. We also review any behavioural or safeguarding considerations to ensure a safe and positive match for both tutor and learner.
Every placement is approached with a personalised, learner-centred focus, ensuring tutors feel confident and supported from the outset.
